The Story of Stargazer Earth

Hey everyone,

I got my first telescope for my 30th birthday. For a couple of years, I absolutely loved it - clear nights meant rushing to set everything up, losing track of time while observing. Then life happened. Work got busier, responsibilities piled up, and suddenly I had less and less time for the hobby I loved.

I live in a large city, so most of my observing happens from my balcony - mostly planets, the Moon, and some astrophotography when conditions allow. But here's the thing: I kept missing perfect nights. I'd look up around midnight and see crystal-clear skies, but by then it was too late to set everything up - morning and work were just a few hours away.

So I built something to fix that.

It started as a Python library apts for my own use. But then it hit me: what if I'm not the only busy dad with a telescope gathering dust on the balcony?

That's how Stargazer Earth was born. It's a free web app designed to make astronomy accessible again for people like us - those with small windows of time, limited sky access, and a genuine love for what's up there.

What Stargazer Earth Does

Smart Weather Alerts

Set your own thresholds for cloud cover, precipitation, humidity, wind, moon phase, fog, and even azimuth range (perfect if you can only see part of the sky from your balcony). When your conditions are met, you get an email. No more missed clear skies.

Track Your Gear

Log your telescopes, binoculars, eyepieces, smart telescopes, and accessories. The app calculates useful limits like magnification and limiting magnitude, and adapts the sky map to match your setup. Track sessions with one click and build your history.

Nova, Your AI Assistant

Ask Nova what's worth observing tonight, get gear advice, or check visibility. It's like having a helpful astronomy buddy on call. Includes built-in Messier & NGC catalogs with visibility tools and event predictions.

Available Worldwide

The service works anywhere on Earth. We are a global community connected by the sky. It's a humbling reminder that we're all just tiny passengers on this beautiful spaceship called Earth.

Free. No ads. No tracking.

I built this from the heart for fellow amateur astronomers. The goal is just to help people get back out there. If maintaining it becomes a problem, I might add opt-in donations, but it will always remain focused on the community.
